About Me
It took me until my late 20s before I gained the clarity and confidence I needed to begin studying how to be a counselor. After finishing graduate school with a MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, I pivoted slightly and worked for a few years as a program manager, supporting service providers who cared for folks with developmental and intellectual disabilities. While I loved aspects of this job, it ultimately was not a good fit. At that point, I began working toward state licensure by counseling kids in the public school system and then working for our local Community Service Board. At the CSB I ran a grant-funded program delivering outpatient services to adolescents struggling with addiction. As I worked toward accruing more experience and hours in the field, I also began studying Sensorimotor Psychotherapy and am now Level 1 trained in this body-based approach to trauma reprocessing. After leaving the CSB, I opened my own private practice in 2021. While I’ve enjoyed learning how to run a (very small) business, my passion really lies in deepening my understanding of the human condition, of human connection, and fine tuning my skills for guiding others toward more peace, quality of life, and freedom (however that may look). I am EMDR trained and am currently working toward certification. In January 2026, I will build on my current knowledge of Internal Family Systems with level 2 training, learning how to apply this model to couples in therapy. I also am happy to have recently become a Virginia Board Approved Clinical Supervisor and will be providing clinical supervision for residents in counseling. While I primarily work with individuals in therapy, I also love working with groups. In the Fall 2024, I ran a women’s support group for my clients who were female-identifying and I plan to continue offering similar groups as time goes on.
